For personal reasons, based mostly on spiritual pride and carnal curiosity I was moved to look into the scientific arguments pro creation and intelligent design, a more secular and “educated” approach to the testifying of the existence of God.
Admittedly when I did research on this topic, and that of course mainly online, I bumped into a lot of explanations, video clips and “proofs” regarding the opposite argument, the negation of such “reality.”
The few papers and discussions I was finding in favor were either weak or if strong denoting an appearance of duels between science and philosophy with the later coming out strong but defeating the main purpose of doing so scientifically.
The conclusion at this stage was that some scientists and some philosophers have a bit of a chip on their shoulder towards each other.
It seemed for a while the only material I’d be able to use in any discussion/debate with intellectuals on this subject would be somewhat irrelevant with the potential risk of nearly always getting sucked in a pure academic discussion, at least hoped civilised but nevertheless bearing no tangible results in the end.
The research continued and my efforts were rewarded when I found the various debates and dissertations by a christian math scientist who has been debating, and “apparently” winning, the most famous of the day scientists who campaign to enforce the so called “new atheism.”
Very good, that inspired me for a while. It seemed as if I’d struck “gold,” the gold which would equip me with strong scientific/philosophic arguments to humiliate and batter down these very weak and stupid arguments that intend to prove God does not exist, God never was.
And so I continued watching video after video of these debates, with this famous and respected christian scientist steamrolling those who previously had caused me so much disgust. It was like the feeling you get in a movie where the hero is virtually hammered throughout the whole movie to then make a turnover and be the boss in the end.
Like; “Take that you perverts, you devils, you!!…”
Yeah, was nice for a while. But then this morning I woke up to go pee and my mind leaves standby mode right away. Thinking about this I came to another conclusion; This is not really a matter of winning or loosing and this is just another trick laid out to my person. It does not matter to a non academic person as myself if these debates on the existence of God are won or lost.
I can only hope and pray such mass testimonials will eventually impress someone who in turn may end up embracing the faith. And as this respected christian scientist clearly is doing among his peers, continue into the world telling people His Story in the Gospels.
As he so aptly puts it he is very thankful for having had christian parents! Not scientific christian parents but average ones who had a faith which they transmitted to their son the best they knew how. And the personal lesson here is that what he remembers most vividly is that they didn’t coerce him into it but just presented the “News” and then let him choose, thus freeing him to still pursue his destiny; To be a math scientist.
Maybe I’m wrong, probably yes, but my guess is the probabilities of the ones who chose the path of unbelief either having suffered strong persuasive coercion or having had no access to these “News” at all, both experiences with a negative connotation, are quite high.
Well, each to his own, and so I think my “scientific experiment” on winning a debate, either scientific or philosophic, has come to a conclusion and it is;
My place on this earth and my mission on this earth is to simply obey Mark 16:15-18;
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
When you read the above and try to “explain” it scientifically, even philosophically, it’s an endless big pain because of Isaiah 55:9;
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Who in their right mind will argue against that?!
